Substance Use Disorders Counselor Certificate

This fully online, non-credit certificate program is designed for mental health and human services professionals who want to pursue a Wisconsin substance use disorders counseling license, as well as other helping professionals who want to increase their knowledge/skills to better serve clients/patients with substance use disorders. The course is pre-approved by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services to fulfill the 360 specialized educational hours required to become a licensed Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) or Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC). The course can also be used to fulfill the 100 hours of pre-credential education required for a Substance Abuse Counselor-in-Training (SAC-IT) credential. The 24 week, self-paced, 100% online program was designed to fit into the busy life of nontraditional students. There are no live log-on times and no set course deadlines. Successful completion of the program fulfills the 360 hours of specialized education in substance use disorder counseling required by the state of Wisconsin for the SAC-IT/SAC/CSAC credentials to be a substance use disorders counselor.
The Substance Use Disorders Counselor Certificate is part of the UW Flexible Option program. Students have access to Success Coaches who are available to guide, support, and encourage learners. The coaches are fluent in the online, self-paced learning format used to offer the SUDS Certificate and can help learners navigate the learning management system and troubleshoot common issues. The coaches also understand the needs of returning adult learners. They can provide personalized academic support, as well as valuable moral support. In addition, Success Coach are available to: Welcome learners to the UW Flexible Option program and explain how the program works Help learners develop an Academic Plan of Study Answer questions, offer advice, and check in periodically to see how learners are doing Help set priorities and manage time needed to successfully complete the program Connect learners to the resources needed to succeed

Registration can be cancelled through the Friday before the program subscription start date. Cancellations will receive a full refund minus a $50 administrative fee. No refunds are provided after the cancellation deadline has passed. However, upon request the program will consider a Compassionate Refund/Extension for extenuating circumstances.

PLEASE NOTE:

Most employers are required to report certain employment information to the State of Wisconsin, including quarterly wage information for their employees. If a "0" shows for any of these outcomes, it means that none of the students' information could be verified.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
